Party Animal: Javelina Necklace

Sterling Silver Jewelry, Adobe Colored Leather Cord, Adjustable length 16" to 18", Green Patina

Well, it finally happened. After 40+ years of living in Alaska and embracing winter most of those years, we finally decided or maybe winter decided for us, that it was time to head south with the Geese, Swans and Cranes. We ended up in a little community of like-minds in Green Valley, Arizona where we now find ourselves enjoying winter from afar. I tried not to design... I really, truly did. But as you can see it presented me with a new challenge. One I gleefully accepted. We continue to enjoy summers in our home in Ester.

Arizona has many indigenous species but one of the most bizarre and prickly is the Javelina. (Ha-ve-lina) Javelinas eat Prickly Pear cactus like it's candy and very often you will see one with a big bite taken out of an edge. They have crossed my path many times during a hike and this past winter they took up residence in my neighbor's backyard, just under the sunflower feeder! This whimsical little guy is on his way to a party, holding a bouquet of Prickly Pear balloons in his mouth (can you see the bite taken out of one?) bringing himself, his joy and an appetizer!

I love this German leather cord, its adobe color fits right in with the desert theme and is both durable and heavy enough to retain it shape.
