Sky Dancer, Northern Lights Pendant, Cobalt Goldstone
Sky Dancer Pendant, Aurora Borealis Pendant
Silver Jewelry, Goldstone (man-made), 1" x 5/8", 18" Length
The Northern Lights brighten our night skies with their endless dance of light and motion, enthralling both visitor and locals. The ancient Norse believed the aurora symbolized the gods locked in battle. This sterling silver aurora borealis necklace has a Cobalt Blue Goldstone to capture the midnight sky when the sky dancer is most active. When seen from space, the aurora presents itself as a mirror image in both the north and south poles. If you are in the far North and hoping to see the show, you can check the daily aurora forecast here.
I love to design. Wherever I walk, I am always looking for ways to capture the natural world in a piece of jewelry. I owe my talent as an artist to my maternal grandfather, Erland Waastrom, a Swede who immigrated to this country in the early 20th century. My grandfather was a visual artist. He painted versions of old masters in oils and even recreated the Mona Lisa in pastels! He was also a sculptor and worked in various mediums, including metal and wood. One time he carved a tree root, capturing the image of an embracing couple beneath a grape arbor. I believe that I have carried his love of art and creativity forward through my design work.
